Well, yesterday I shared (ranted) about our excitement (ha ha) for all the waiting we are doing throughout the adoption process but the excitement doesn't stop there we also get to do a lot of WORRYING! In the beginning we WORRIED whether or not we would get approved by the agency, whether or not we would have a favorable outcome with our homestudy, whether or not the US would ratify the Hague Treaty in early 2007 which would stop adoptions in Guatemala as they are not yet Hague compliant. We WORRIED that our fingerprint appointment would never be scheduled (it took 3 months before they sent us a letter with a fingerprint appointment which are necessary in order to approve our application). We WORRIED that the dossier paperwork, which was sent via Fed Ex from place to place to be certified and authenticated would somehow get lost or damaged causing huge delays. When Fed Ex would come to my office and pick up my packages, Jamie, at the front desk, would always tell him that they were adoption papers so he would take special care of them. Apparently it worked because we didn't lose one document.
We WORRY now, that the DNA might not be a match, even though it is highly unlikely it could happen and it takes about 10 weeks to get results (more waiting, yeah!). We WORRY that our case will be kicked out of family court and then kicked out of PGN for silly things that can be fixed but will ultimately delay the case considerably . We still WORRY about potential changes in the government of Guatemala that could affect and/or delay our adoption. We WORRY, but are hopefull that we are truly Grandfathered in at this stage and any changes in the government will not affect the ability to fianlize our adoption.
Most of all we WORRY about Olivia. We will continue to worry about Olivia for the rest of our lives, but that's one worry we are honored and blessed to take on. She is definitely worth the WAIT and the WORRYING!

Olivia Talking
Thank you Shannon for the great idea of filming the DVD while it plays!! This will have to do until I get the proper program. The quality is not very good doing it this way but it's better than nothing.
