Update

Today we got an update from our adoption coordinator on the status of our case. Our Power of Attorney and completed Dossier were sent via Fed Ex to Guatemala on Monday April 9th. Once received in Guatemala, the Power of Attorney (which gives our attorney the power to act on our behalf) and our Dossier were sent for legalization at the Office of Foreign Affairs.
Our completed Dossier contained 18 different documents, a 7 page homestudy, and 3 pages of photographs of us, our home and family. All of the Dossier and Power of Attorney documents (except the photos) had to go through a 3 step process to be "authenticated" here in the US. Once our Dossier arrived in Guatemala they all went through a 4th step for final "legalization/authentication" Once that was done our Power of Attorney was registered and our completely authenticated Dossier was returned to the attorney.
On Tuesday, April 17th the attorney received the Dossier and it is now in the process of being translated into Spanish. Translation will take approximately 2 weeks. Once the Dossier is fully translated it will be submitted to Family Court and randomly assigned to a social worker, hopefully one who "favors" adoption.
Currently cases are taking about 8 weeks to get through Family Court. Hopefully the social worker assigned to process our case will not get sick or have any planned vacation until he/she is done with our case. If the attorney sees that the assigned social worker is not one of the favorable ones she will pull our case out and resubmit it in hopes of getting a different more favorable social worker. We pray that we will get the, gung ho, I love approving adoption cases, I'm never out sick and I only vacation in the winter kind of social worker so we can quickly breeze through Family Court and on to the next step.
YEAH!!! Things are progressing!!!

Thank you Shannon for the great idea of filming the DVD while it plays!! This will have to do until I get the proper program. The quality is not very good doing it this way but it's better than nothing.
