Waiting for a Referral

Well, we waited anxiously for 2 weeks as we were told by our adoption coordinator that she would try to get us our referral by the end of the week of March 5th, 2007 but if she couldn't it would be the week of March 19th, 2007 because she was on vacation the week in between. Every day we waited for that e-mail to come through with that referral hoping that we would not have to wait until she came back from vacation. Day after day nothing came. At this time we had heard the rumor that April 1st was the deadline for filing in the Guatemalan courts. We have not had our conference call at this point so it is not confirmed that this is a rumor so the longer we go without our referral the more stressed out we get. Of course the week went by and no referral, now we would have to wait until she returns from vacation.
Monday, March 19th came and went and still no referral. Tuesday I e-mailed my coordinator to let her know we were still waiting, in case she forgot us. Of course coming back from vacation it is always hard to get back in the groove and get caught up on things. She e-mailed me back and told me that she hadn't forgotten us and that she had a lot of fires to put out when she got back but she would have our referral to us in the next few days. I let her know that Bill was going to be out of town the entire next week with out computer access so if she could get the referral to us by Friday that would be great. I didn't tell Bill because I wanted to surprise him when it came. I also didn't want him to be disappointed if it didn't come.
True to her word our referral arrived by e-mail as I sat at my desk working on Friday, March 23, 2007. The subject line took my breath away........ Baby Girl!!!
