The way my e-mail is set up at work I am able to preview the first few lines of the content of the e-mail without actually opening it. So, as I was forwarding them to home address I could read her name and birthdate, "Linda Maria .............., born January 22, 2007". Well today is March 23, 2007 and that makes her 8 weeks old. My heart sank a little because I instantly thought that something was wrong with her. We were told that we would get a referral that was about 3 weeks old maybe 4 or 5 weeks old but not 8 weeks old. I became concerned that there was something wrong. When Bill arrived home he could tell that something was bothering me. When I told him I sneaked a peek at her birthdate and she is already 2 months old he was a little surprised as well. When we opened the e-mail it said that she had been in foster care from 3 days old. Now we were really concerned, why had it taken them so long to present her to us? Was she presented to someone else and they rejected her? Had she been sick and they couldn't release her until now? We had no way of knowing because we were sent 4 e-mails with pictures and a note from our coordinator telling us that she would get the rest of the info to us when she returned from her meeting in 4 hours. The rest of the information? What isn't she telling us? Do we look at her picture and then find out later that there are some bad circumstances surrounding this child that will make an already difficult process even more difficult? Do we wait to look at her until after we talk to our coordinator and find out why it has taken them so long to refer her? Will it make a difference to us when all is said and done if there really is something wrong? If this is the child that was meant for us then we will be able to handle whatever it is that comes with her? At least we think we will?
We agree to look at the pictures but try not to get too attached until we will talk to our coordinator later to get the rest of the story.
So we decide to open the first pictures of her at one day old. The e-mail explains that the attorney handling the case in Guatemala has made an error on her last name. No big deal.

AWWWW!!! She's cute! As cute as a newborn can be right....LOLOL. That's about all we said for the first 2 minutes. This is so surreal. Is this really her? Is she really the one who is chosen to be our daugher? Is she healthy? Does she look like an "Olivia". She has to, we have too many things that say "Olivia" on them. We have so many questions but right now I can't open the next pictures fast enough. We continue to look at the rest of the newborn pictures and we are just in awe.
