How It All Started
In October of 2006, after 8 long years of infertility treatments the last 4 of which were very intense resulting in two lost pregnancies, Bill and I finally came to the realization that in order to grow our family we had one last option available, adoption. As we started researching the various types of adoption we decided that international adoption was most appropriate for us. In particular the country of Guatemala was very appealing. Although it was more costly than some other countries we were impressed with the fact that children who are up for adoption in Guatemala are cared for in private foster homes, rather than orphanages, they are very healthy and we would be able to get an infant, which is beneficial in transitioning to a new family and new surroundings. The entire process from start to finish should only be one year as opposed to 2 years for some of the other countries. So, our final decision was made to adopt from Guatemala, and as a bonus Guatemalan babies are really cute!!

Thank you Shannon for the great idea of filming the DVD while it plays!! This will have to do until I get the proper program. The quality is not very good doing it this way but it's better than nothing.
