I haven't posted in a while because Miss Olivia has been very sick. Starting last Tuesday she woke up with a 104.3 temp and stuffy nose. She has continued to run a high fever between 103 and 105 every day since last Tuesday. I took her to the doctor last Thursday and they did a CBC and told me that it was viral so just wait it out. By Saturday she continued with these very high temps so I took her in again. They did a strep culture and a Flu test. The flu test came back positive. Here it is, the 5th day with high fevers and they are telling me that she has the flu. The flu will take a full 7 days to run it's course. In the meantime there is nothing we can do but to try and keep her temp down. That means round the clock Motrin and Tylenol and repeated baths when the medicine doesn't work. Poor Olivia is suffering terrible but she barely complains. She just wants to be held or wheeled in her stroller (in the house because we can't take her out). She is barely drinking and hardly eating. How long can she go on like this?
Today, 8 days later, she woke up with a fever again, no surprise there, and her nose was caked with dried blood, so much so that it looked as though she had been punched in the nose. Her eye was stuck shut and she was crying. I called the doctor again and brought her in at 9am. Can I tell you that my baby girl the best little girl ever and she is so brave. This poor baby had to have a catheter inserted into her bladder for a clean catch urine sample. A blood draw from her arm to fill 5 vials and then a chest x-ray. The device they put her in for the chest x-ray was awful. I thought they would strap her to the table, I could deal with that, but no instead she sat in this, I don't even know what to call it, but her feet dangled down and her arms had to be straight up over her head so they could enclose her in this plastic cylinder. It looked like an archaic torture device. This was a brand new facility so I knew it wasn't an old device but holy cow could they have come up with something else. She was so scared, I just held her hands that were the only things I could touch at the top of the cylinder and kept talking to her and trying to get her to relax. It felt like she had to be in there forever but they only took two pictures. When she was all done they couldn't get her out of that thing fast enough for me. I just held her and hugged her and kissed her. She is so brave I am so proud of her. She has been so very sick and put through some rough tests even for an adult and she has been so good. I can't believe how much I love this little girl and how proud I am to call her my daughter and how blessed I am to be her Momma.
Feel better soon my Princessa!!! I love you!!!!! I miss your sweet smile!!!

Poor baby! We were fortunate when Tabitha had the flu, they had done the rapid flu test within the first 48 hours of the start of the symptoms, so she was able to take the Tamiflu. Her temps only lasted a couple of days. Get better soon, Olivia!
You know I am praying for my girl! And her Mama!!!
Love ya'll

Abbie had to have a chest X-ray in December. I know exactly what you are talking about and how you feel! It was horrible! Like some sort of torture device!
