3 Weeks Down / A Wonderful Weekend! / Olivia's Gift

Well, we have completed 3 Weeks in PGN. I hope we get a kick out this week. I know that sounds crazy but we were told to expect at least one, so I would like to get out and get back in as quickly as possible. If I have to have one this week is as good as any.

Bill and I had a wonderful weekend in Charleston, SC. We stayed at the Embassy Suites in historic Charleston and ate at some of the best restaurants, took a carriage ride through the historic district, visited Fort Sumter, and enjoyed the rich history of a beautiful city. The seafood was awesome and we had a lot of fun!

This is our hotel. It is a historic landmark and is most well known as the original home of The Citadel military school. In 1758 the original structure served as a fort for the city. In 1789 the State used it as a warehouse to store and inspect tobacco. The building became known as The Citadel in 1826 and became The Citadel military school 1842 and remained there until 1922. The building was painstakingly restored and renovated.

This is the inside of our Hotel.
This is our room and the white box in the brick wall is an original "Gun Port"

Cobblestone Street. I made Bill drive down it a couple of times. It was a lot of fun. I can't imagine doing it with a horse and carriage.

One of my favorite houses on The Battery. This picture doesn't do it justice.
My second favorite house on The Battery.
Olivia's gift from a woman selling jewelry in the open Market.
I was looking at her handmade jewelry for a bracelet for Olivia. I asked her about the size of her smallest bracelets. She told me that a 6 stone would fit a very small child. She only had a 6 stone in silver with various colored stones. I asked her if she had a 6 stone in the gold with pink stones. She said she didn't and was out of the gold or she would have made me one. She asked me how big "she" was because the 7 stone might fit. I explained that we are adopting from Guatemala and are not sure when we will get her and how big she will be. She was so intrigued by our story (and Olivia's picture, he's such a proud Daddy) that when we were saying good-bye she told us to wait because she wanted to give us this bracelet for Olivia because she is a very blessed baby. We tried to pay her but she would not take the money. She was so excited that we were giving this baby girl a wonderful loving home. She kept remarking how blessed the baby was. I kept telling her that we were the ones who are blessed to have Olivia in our lives. We could not thank her enough for her kindness and generosity and I can't wait to share this story with Olivia someday.

Congrats on reaching the 3 week mark without a kickout. Maybe you are one of the lucky ones who won't get a kickout!

Love the bracelet and the story behind it!

Aw, that bracelet story is too sweet.

Three weeks in PGN--lots of people go the whole time without a kick-out...you could too.

I hope you hear good news SOON!!

Thank you Shannon for the great idea of filming the DVD while it plays!! This will have to do until I get the proper program. The quality is not very good doing it this way but it's better than nothing.
