These are the books that Bill's Mom bought when they adopted him. They are 40 years old. "The Adopted Family" is a guide for adoptive parents. "The Family That Grew" tells the story of a family adopting a baby boy. Bill's mother used to read this to him all the time. When I met Bill he told me that he was adopted and that his parents had been very open and discussed this with him from as early as he could remember. He shared with me info about a book that his mother used to read to him to help explain his adoption. He thought it was cool how the book talked about a family who adopted a baby boy and several years later adopted a baby girl, as though the book was written about him and his sister specifically. It was a wonderful surprise when we received his books in the mail from his mother. I couldn't wait to read his story, but when I got to the end it said nothing about adopting a baby girl. When I double checked with Bill to confirm that the story he remembers included adopting a baby girl, we came to the conclusion that his mother embellished the ending of the story in order to make it true to life. Too funny! We are very grateful to have these books to share with Olivia one day. Even though they are very dated the emotion is still the same.
Fast forward to 2007 and and we have Olivia's book about adoption, "Over The Moon". This is a great book that Bill bought for her and it is geared toward a Latin American adoption. We hope that she will grow up with fond memories of her story as Bill did with his story.

I have been wanting to get that Over the Moon book so I'm glad that you said it's really good. It's neat to have your husband's books as well!
How wonderful that his mom kept those books!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was adopted too, but I don't think my parents ever bought any books. They just told me and talked about it from as early as I can remember.
I still keep meaning to buy Over the Moon. Hmmmm. I have a couple of Amazon gift certificates. Maybe I need to just do it!
