Baby Steps

Today's update from our coordinator said that our case was presented to Family Court on Monday, June 4th. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy that we are finally there. We are taking baby steps but none-the-less we are moving forward.

Our coordinator is sending us a copy of the DNA results and a Polaroid of Olivia with her birth mother that was taken when they did the DNA samples. We are so excited to receive this picture but at the same time are saddened when thinking of how hard it must have been for her birth mother to see and hold her again. We know that the decision to give Olivia up was not an easy one. We are so thankful to her for making the decision to give her child the chance at a better life. She has not only given Olivia a better life she has given us a better life through Olivia.

Bill (who is also adopted) and I talked about what we would do with the picture as far as Olivia is concerned. We have decided that we will keep this picture in a safe place and when Olivia is old enough to understand she can make the decision as to whether or not she wishes to see this picture. We will let her know that it is entirely up to her and that she will not hurt our feelings one bit if she decides that she wants to see the picture. We want her to be comfortable with it and not have it be something that we force on her or keep from her. She will be able to decide what is best for her when the time comes......Baby Steps!
